One of my earliest memories that solidified my identity as a writer and communicator was at age 5, when I was just beginning to write; I "designed" a business card that boldly say"Grisel Muñoz, Journalist."
My journey began at 15 when my father, a respected journalist, involved me in his radio news program. My task was to write the news scripts for the morning announcers, a responsibility that not only taught me discipline and attention to detail but also sparked my insatiable curiosity for storytelling and truthful information.
As expected, I decided to study Communication. In university, I reaffirmed my love for writing—taking on every opportunity to handle tasks involving storytelling. For instance, during a film workshop, while others focused on video cameras, I focused on writing scripts.
Near the end of my studies, I put my journalism knowledge and political savvy to the test by writing a column called "La Falacia" for the newspaper La Opinión de Torreón.
After graduating, I participated in a media monitoring bid for a state government. This experience was particularly enriching, as I had to draft weekly analyses of media behavior, requiring keen observation, impartiality, synthesis skills, and the ability to present information clearly to the Governor.
Later, as executive producer of a two-hour morning television program, I refined my editing and content management skills, guiding the editorial direction and ensuring each section had impact and precision.
I expanded my repertoire by drafting legislative proposals for a congressman, combining my persuasion and clarity with politics to influence legislative development.
One of my most gratifying achievements was winning a national fundraising project for 3 million pesos for a civil association dedicated to caring for children of working mothers. This success reflected not only my ability to structure ideas and persuasive arguments but also my commitment to causes that benefit the community.
When I was appointed Head of Marketing and Communication for a state government's social communication department, I knew I was facing the greatest challenge of my career up to that point. My primary responsibility was to generate and coordinate content for all government campaigns. From civil protection to back-to-school initiatives and various government programs, everything had to reach the population effectively through multiple channels.
This role allowed me to understand the subtleties of public communication, the power of information, and how to change the narrative depending on the context and audience. I learned to be precise and adapt quickly to any situation, skills that proved invaluable.
I then transitioned to the private sector, where a software design company hired me to create their marketing content. This presented new challenges, as the audience was entirely different, and the objectives ranged from detailed technical information to more persuasive communication, though not necessarily immediate. Here, I learned to talk about topics unfamiliar to me, understanding and then translating technical concepts into accessible and engaging language.
Once in Mexico City, I joined the marketing agency Colibrí Asesores, where I developed tourism and informational content for their main client, Visit El Paso. From brochures to web content, everything had to be translated and adapted for the Mexican audience. The job also led me to translate marketing content for projects in Belize, such as BioMist, ensuring every word resonated with the respective audiences.
Currently, I manage a diverse portfolio of over 10 clients for whom I have written the entire content of their websites. These clients range from the public policy and sustainable energy sectors to the country's largest gas company, transportation and tourism agencies, and many more.
I have expanded my knowledge by becoming certified as a financial advisor by the National Insurance and Bonding Commission, which has allowed me to address content in the insurance and investment markets in Mexico. Digital and traditional marketing are my playgrounds: I hold certifications in SEO, SEM campaigns, and have extensive knowledge in AI.
